  1. honestly a couple eps in i was suspicious on how only naho got a letter, why didn't any other people get any, but when suwa said he got a letter i automatically knew everyone got a letter.

  2. I don't get why some people dislike Naho so much. The show even straight up told you why she is the way she is. Shit was extremely realistic. Knowing what the right thing to do is doesn't automatically mean someone's personality will do a complete 180. I'm pretty sure we have ALL had a point in our life where we knew what the right thing to do is, but didn't actually do it because we were afraid. Someone like Naho could NOT ever change easily. I understand if she was frustrating to you at times, but that doesn't make her a weak character at all.

Also, why the hell wouldn't the others have letters besides just Naho and Suwa? Of course they would. IT'S FUCKING OBVIOUS! If you didn't expect it, then I'm sorry but it was really obvious the second it was revealed Suwa had one. All of them were Kakeru's friends you know, not just Suwa and Naho.

  3. Just finished watching this anime a few nights ago. It was a nice emotional coaster that ended nicely. It made me realize the importance of just talking to others when somethings bothering me or before I act on something that i should second. Much like how Kakeru's mother thought it would make Kakeru happier when she did the things she did, which ultimately ended in her suicide. Communication is the key to resolve.

  4. It's one of my favorites, because I loved how they represented suicidal characters and how much I could truly relate to it. My least favorite scene is when Naho kept trying to convince him to stay with the group and have fun when his grandma was sick. Like, girl. That's literally what you were told NOT to do. Obviously, you could have offered to go with him and help in any way you could. Like, the solution was plain as day. That part really pissed me off, but it did well for the story, so I don't mind that much.

  5. I also found it interesting that the most submissive, quiet, passive character from the bunch was the main character as opposed to someone like Suwa, the more obvious group-leader, selfless candidate. But I think that's one thing I liked about the story. Usually the main character possesses traits closer to that of Suwa and the one like Naho kinda sinks into the backdrop as a side character or until some dramatic, significant revelation near the end of the series makes the quiet character suddenly important. It was refreshing to see a character like Naho take the lead. You get insight into the self-doubt, overthinking, lack of confidence, wish to stay away from any kind of difficult situation that a character like her possesses and how when forced to deal with difficult circumstances, she can gradually overcome her vices and really use her strengths like her selflessness and her humble nature that makes it easier for her to learn from others and draw strength from them. As the quiet, careful, observant character she's also very approachable and people are more likely to feel comfortable and safe opening up to her. Kakeru also saw some of himself in Naho since really, most of us want to minimise the hurt or inconvenience we cause others. We also tend to overthink or lack confidence at least from time to time. These two natures bought together can lead to overthinking how much opening up and expressing our feelings to our closest friends will negatively impact of friends. It leads to a lot unsaid words and bottled up thoughts and emotions. It was great to see stronger characters like Suwa and actually the whole group look out for her. She looks out for them and puts them first all the time and in return, they naturally feel very protective over her and are always their for her to confide in. I personally don't believe that we have to express our every negative experience with our close friends. But when we are hurting, lost, overwhelmed or of course having extremely negative thoughts that are making us think there is no way out..we should always confide in someone we love and trust. Honestly I loved that about this anime. Both Naho and Kakeru learned to confide in their friends and that it's so much better to face life together than on your own. It was a beautiful theme in this anime that we do need to be reminded of every once and a while. I went a little off track but I hope you understood what I meant.

That being said though, Suwa was my favourite character while watching the series. But I also loved and appreciated Naho because of the reasons I mentioned.

Thank you so much for your review! And thanks to whoever read this whole thing. Please don't hesitate to leave your thoughts about this.

  6. towards the end of the anime i had one problem. i was thinking this trying so hard to make him happy was completely pointless because Noha screwed up on new years eve anyway and that he was going to kill himself the same way but then it actually was important because it in the end made him realize that wants to live
edit: i thought Suwa was going to kill himself on new years eve

  7. The reason this anime hit so close to home with me, is because I have a friend who's dealing with the same thing as Kakero. He wont open up about anything, and when he does, it's only to me, because I'm the only one that he trusts. In every single episode I cried because it reminded me of the situation I'm in now…

  8. One major problem I had with Orange is the ending, spoilers by the way:

Nothing really changed in the end, yes they became better friends and Naho and Kakeru confessed to each other. Thats great but kakeru is still depressed and still blames himself for his mothers death, and after everything that happened in the 12 other episodes he still was going to commit suicide, all from reading that his mother wanted him to be happy and do what he wants, he never comes to terms with the blame he feels for what happened is by my prospective one bad day from reverting back to his suicidal thoughts, I get they tried to say that naho and the others will make sure that kakeru will be happy and never get to that state again but thats too much pressure and responsibility for 16 year old kids who have problems saying I love you to handle.

For a serious topic they didn't do enough to acknowledge the need for professional help when it comes to these kinds of issues, considering the audience I didnt feel they did enough in this regard.

  9. I agree about all of them getting letters, especially because it seemed like Kakeru was closest to Suwa and Naho, so would've made sense if only they got letters. Also just a side note you should do special A, Kamisama kiss, and Blue Spring ride.

  10. I read the manga before I heard about it being an anime. It's pretty solid and followed the manga very well. Suwa is my favorite character in the entire anime. I do relate to Kakeru and his struggles. But my situation was more complex. It took a really good friend to pull me out of my severe depression before I could really smile again. This anime broke me because it is relatable. Granted a little too unrealistic with some flaws in character but still very likable otherwise. I loved this anime and I agree that it's an anime worth watching. I do encourage anyone if they know anyone like Kakeru, please reach out to them. Be that someone they can open up to. It was hard for me but I'm okay now because of the support from people who called me their friend. I never heard it before until someone told me that I was their friend.

  11. In the live-action adaptation, only Naho and Suwa get a letter from their future self. Best of all, Naho is more bearable.

The biggest let down for me about both the anime and LA was how they handle the time traveling aspect……..it felt…..lazy imo.

  12. What makes me have a mixed feelings being one of them mostly sadness, is SUWA….
That guy is the hero of the show, he is the MVP, he is FUCKING everything.
He abdicated his life with Naho, he abdicated their fucking SON´S LIFE, and most of all he abdicated his trully hapiness(I assume), HE ABDICATED HIS WHOLE WORD!!
Yes, of course he is happy with Kakeru lived, and probabbly will move on with his love for Naho. But that..
That!!Because he is STRONG!!He is GREAT!!Again he is EVERYTHING!!!
If he knew how they were wonderfull(Naho and Suwa) in the future with his son…(I think he did, and yet..)
Im so speechless, If even Naho and kakeru knew about that…Only Naho to be honest
Im realy so sorry Suwa, I know the other guys knew and yet…
He always been loyal, never betrayed no one…
Jesus I don t even know what to say anymore…

Like, this is so animeeee, and this conclusion makes me even saddier…
In real world nobody will give his life like that, all you "friends", all the people you supposedly care, everything are so less than that…
People in this world, would even care about your death 10 years after, of course they would remember you sometimes, but nobody would thought to trying to save you in other life…
And if they sent the letters, and the past ones been able to receive those letters, they just would give it up, or dont believe in that, or don´t even care…
And doing the work that characters of animeee did?
No way, they would give It up in a flash, that´s why humanas are horrible and that´s why this makes me awful…

YOU, the person or people who are reading this..

Would you sacrifice a life with the girl of your dreams(crush), a common son(A FUCKING SON) and your trully happiness(One of the best things), by your Best friend life(You love him too) and his trully happiness(but I don t think you would do It)?

And whatever you chose, would you remember him anyway ?
And whatever you chose, would you help him everyday ?

We are humans, we want our life to be great and full of joy, even if we need to abdicate other people lifes…
    Sadly this is the true,
That´s why I feel so bad for Suwa, because he is a utopic character who I realy be in this world, but I can´t be him, he is Wonderfull and Strong.

    I don´t think I am,
    …any of us is…

Comment what do you think, I realy would liek to read those different opinions

  13. Thoughts
This was a hit and miss series for me i loved it at first but as it went
on Naho and Kakeru the 2 characters with the most screen time make a
lot of…frustrating decisions. The ending was disappointing for me tho
most will at the very least think its okay.
The story focused mostly on one thing so the characters felt empty when
you look back. we didn't get much about them personally.
As for good points i loved the art, plot idea and Suwa (best character)
while i would definitely recommend this it could of been better.

    Whats wrong with this Spoilers
Naho really pisses me off. her shyness despite the situation is
    unbearable at times…
while i understood her train of thought initially after plenty of
experiences proving the note is accurate. i just wished she would die
since that's whats she is doing to someone else by not helping them!

Naho does not realize the guy she cares about want to hold hands 2
times! and this is after he clearly said he loved her at least once!

Kakeru is way to immature. people have gone through soooo much more then
he has and are fine let alone thinking about suicide…
and he constantly keeps going into serious depression over just one
    thing…
to make it worse he keeps making everything harder then it needs to be.
imagine a relationship where you have sex then the next day you are
embarrassed to do basic things like talk or go out together.
    that's how ridiculous this is.

Naho in one future event said i'll save you next time. what does that
even mean? they live in a normal world.

10 years in the future they are still a bit immature with Suza getting
embarrassed talking about his highschool confession.

Considering how important it is to the story its odd they didn't say why
    Kakerus mother committed suicide.
sure i can assume its because she was sick (we have no details on what
sickness either) to the apparent point she needed her son to survive.
did she give up once her son didn't care about her anymore?

Kakeru in ep13 says he never told Naho he loved her which is a lie he
told her when in the bed after collapsing from soccer.

    kakeru lived :/…

  14. Great Review! I love Orange. Made me cry a lot. Also for me Suwa should be the main character here. Every time he enters a scene makes wanna cry already. And i see alot of people commenting that they are irritated with Naho. Same here. But overall its a great anime guys. WORTH WATCHING!
